New LP

We have been working on an LP for quite some time now. We are no wherenear finishing it, seeing as though we are still writing the music and outlining the story. We are also trying our best at having this record's lyrics read like a book. The story might make more sense if we include some sort of graphic novel with the record, so we will probablybe working on one of those as well. This is going to be a science fiction epic full of aliens, mutants and space battles. Here is some concept art for the album's story. More info to come...

Our third record, which came out towards the tail end of June 2010. This album was recorded in our practice space in San Francisco and is probably the last release for Stress Domain Records (?).

This record is based off of the stories of King Arthur that were adapted to film in 1981's "Excalibur" by John Boorman. Boorman's vision of Arthur is a bit darker than what was initially written about him in "Le Morte d'Arthur" and we decided to focus on what made his version different. Undertones of incest, cannibalism, insanity, and the devil all made it into the songs on the record. The sound clip in the beginning of "Wind Chimes" comes from the movie "Excalibur".

Back From Tour

We have successfully completed and returned from our international summer tour with Migraine. Thanks to all the awesome people who helped us with last minute shows and the likes. This tour had it's fair share of van troubles and show cancellations, so sorry to the places we had to pass over.

Our new 7" "Swarm On The Swine" is out now and is still available (I believe) from the Stress Domain Records website (stressdomain.blogspot.com). Our new collaboration tape with Migraine entitled "The Delicacies Of Consuming Flesh" is also available from Home Invasion Records (mysterypunk.com) and Eradicate Tapes (eradicate.limitedpressing.com). As if that was not enough, the Snuff Film 7" is now available to buy from the City Records website (cityrecordssf.blogspot.com).

As far as the future of Ecoli is concerned, we are diligently working on our science fiction epic LP, which should be out some time before the end of time. Live shows will be few and far between until the release of this record.

The Delicacies Of Consuming Flesh Tape

Front Cover Of Tape

Back Cover Of Tape

This is a brand new collaboration between Ecoli and Migraine. However, it is not a new Snuff Film record. This band is completely separate and has the members playing different instruments than they were on the Snuff Film release. It also has a more jazzy feel to it. The basic story behind the tape is a member of a religious organization flies out to a remote missionary and retrieves a group of small children for the sake of bringing them back to the states and providing for them proper religious homes. The man is very sick and instead of following through with the former plan, he pawns all the children off to the black market except one. He brings the remaining child back to his home, where he proceeds to butcher and cook her. He accidentally burns her meat in the oven, which sends him into a deep depression from which he is never able to return.

Tape Insert

Home Invasion generously offered to put out the tape. They enlisted the help of their friends over at Eradicate Tapes in order for the tapes to be out in time for our summer tour with Migraine. We did not have the tapes for the first half of our tour, so both bands made a special tour edition of the tape with an alternate cover. The sound quality and availability of this tape are much improved over the Snuff Film tape, so do not expect to see a vinyl release for this band.

We do not have any of the tour edition covers handy, so if you did not pick one up from us on tour, I guess you're S.O.L.

Vacant Rooms Demo Tape

New band featuring members of Ecoli with a much more melodic/noisy feeling. This demo tape was self-released by the band. Seeing as though they do not have an internet presence of any kind, this site will suit their music just fine. They will be playing in Oakland 7/5 with Pigeon Religion and in Richmond 7/10 with White Lung. More details to come.

Snuff Film Tape (UPDATED!)

Front Cover Of Tape

Back Cover Of Tape

Tape Insert

This was a tape that featured Ecoli and Migraine fusing together into one band. The idea was for everyone to go into a room and all play at once. Two guitar players, two bass players, two singers, and one drummer. We also did not want it to sound drastically different from either of our bands. It was supposed to sound a little bit like Ecoli, and a little bit like Migraine.

The story behind the songs was that of a young girl who goes to Hollywood in search of fame and fortune, only to be picked up by mentally disturbed men and killed in the name of a ball room full of rich entrepreneur's entertainment. Each song is told from the view point of one person involved in the filming. You are lead to believe that the director of the snuff film has complete control over the project at all times until the end of the tape when he screens his picture for the producer, at which point he is scolded for creating such a horrible attempt at the fine art of snuff.

The tape was put out on Drone Errant Records. We received and sold our half of the tapes. I do not know what became of the rest...A repress of the tape on 7" format was released on City Records in time for our summer '10 tour w/Migraine. The sound quality is a tad better than it was on the tapes.

Judas Cradle 7"

Front Cover Of 7"

Back Cover Of 7"

Insert For 7"

Between line up changes and extensive stints of inactivity, this record took a very long time to come out. Most of the songs were written during the writing for the WARM HUMAN BILE tape. Just as with the demo 7", this record uses pop culture references to carry its theme. In this case, the 1973 Alejandro Jodorowsky film THE HOLY MOUNTAIN was used as a base for the story. The film was an attempt to bring about a social revolution through unpopular religious methods. Although the film succeeded in "braking" the cinematic mold with an unusual plot and special effects, it seemed troubling that the whole concept of the film was built around the use of religious practices. Something that is in any way oppressive or restrictive to human impulse should not be used in an attempt to bring change.

The basic idea for the Judas Cradle 7" is that the narrator is looking for enlightenment through Alchemist practices. The character takes copious amounts of LSD and goes on a trip to find himself. He is essentially reborn by scrutinizing his character traits through the Tarot card. Each trait/card is assigned a song on the 7". The character goes through the same basic process of rebirth as the character in THE HOLY MOUNTAIN except that in the end, this character chooses not to accept the teachings of religion and to instead live his life how he sees fit.

The one song on the record that does not fit in the story is the first track SHUT UP AND SUFFER. This introduction to the record is about an actual event that took place in Amstetten, Austria. A man by the name of Josef Fritzl locked his daughter, Elisabeth, in a dungeon basement in 1984 and kept her there for 24 years. During that time, Josef beat and raped Elisabeth, who gave birth to 7 sons as a result. In the song, the narrator chastises Elisabeth for trying to pray to God. This sets the hypocritical tone of the narrator for the rest of the record. The privileged narrator is allowed to question his belief in God while in another part of the world, the only thing this woman has to hold on to is her comfort in God.

Judas Cradle was planned for release on our east coast summer tour in 2009. It did not come out until a month or so afterwards.

Summer Tour/New Record

We are going on a full U.S. tour in the early summer with our good fellows Migraine. We had to cancel our last outing due to van troubles, but this time everything is worked out and ready to go. More details to come

A new four song 7" will be put out by Stress Domain Records in support of the tour. More details on that and our upcoming LP in the near future.

Warm Human Bile Tape

Recorded in our practice room/bed room in the early summer of '07. We had been inactive for quite some time, but we were receiving requests to submit tracks for comps. very frequently. We decided to record six songs, which would eventually end up on three different comps. All the songs were written at the same time as the demo songs. Fast forward to the present day, one comp. was canceled and the other two took years to come out.

We put the whole session onto cassette for our '09 east coast tour and called it Warm Human Bile. All were sold on tour. We did a second press for our Judas Cradle record release show. All were sold at that show.

S/T Demo/"Rape" 7"

Front Cover Of 7" (2nd Press)

The demo (or "Rape" 7" as it is commonly referred to as) was recorded towards the end of '05 in bed room/practice spot. Most of the songs were written at least two years prior. It took almost one full year to self release on cassette tapes, during which Ecoli was completely inactive. Tape versions of the demo were first handed out at the Warkrime record release show for the "Give War A Chance" 7". They were used as incentive to buy Second Opinion records. None of these made it out of the bay area.

Although it was a demo, there was a definite theme involved. Based around principles formed in the 1978 novel "The Turner Diaries" by William Luther Pierce, this record was an attempt at pointing out the dangers of uni-cultural societies and forced assimilation. Pierce's book was an inspiration for Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma City bombing, while in contrast, this record did nothing.
